An evening with the Edinburgh Renaissance Band, presented by Linlithgow Arts Guild, offers a rare chance to experience music exactly as it might have sounded in the centuries surrounding the battle. This special event brings together historical performance, expert musicianship, and a deep appreciation of Scotland’s cultural heritage, making it a fitting contribution to the anniversary programme.
The band specialises in performing music from the period 1200-1600, drawing on a wide and fascinating selection of traditional instruments that include shawms, sackbuts, viols, recorders, bagpipes and percussion.
Their concerts are known for being both educational and highly entertaining, with musicians often introducing the instruments, explaining their origins, and demonstrating how they were used in medieval and Renaissance courts, churches and public celebrations.
